Therapeutic Care & Clinical Support

At Capricorn Care NW Ltd, we recognise that every young person’s experiences, relationships, and life journey are unique. Many of the children we care for have experienced trauma, disruption, loss, or instability, and we understand the lasting impact this can have on emotional wellbeing, relationships, behaviour, and self-esteem. We firmly believe that therapeutic childcare is not simply a model or approach — it is something that should be demonstrated every day through positive relationships, emotional understanding, reflective practice, and consistent care. Across all of our homes, we are committed to creating safe, nurturing, and psychologically informed environments where young people feel understood, valued, and supported to achieve positive outcomes.

Our Partnership with bMindful Psychology

To strengthen our therapeutic approach, Capricorn Care works in partnership with bMindful Psychology across all of our homes. This partnership provides access to specialist therapeutic services, consultation, training, and psychological support which benefits both the young people in our care and the teams supporting them. By working closely alongside experienced therapeutic professionals, we are able to ensure our homes remain trauma-informed, reflective, and responsive to the individual needs of each young person.

Trauma-Informed & Reflective Care

We understand that children’s behaviours are often shaped by their past experiences, relationships, and unmet emotional needs. Our therapeutic approach supports staff to better understand the impact of trauma, attachment difficulties, loss, and neurodiversity, enabling them to respond in a safe, nurturing, and informed way.

Through regular reflective practice and consultation, staff are encouraged to explore approaches that support emotional regulation, resilience, positive relationships, and long-term stability for young people. We also recognise the importance of supporting the adults caring for children. Our teams are provided with opportunities to reflect, develop professionally, and strengthen their therapeutic understanding, ensuring they feel confident and supported within their role.

Therapeutic Services Available Across Our Homes

Through our partnership with bMindful Psychology, Capricorn Care has access to a comprehensive range of therapeutic and clinical support services, including:

Psychological Assessments & Formulations

Access to specialist assessments and psychological formulations designed to build a deeper understanding of a young person’s experiences, emotional wellbeing, strengths, and support needs. This may include trauma-informed assessments, resiliency assessments, emotional wellbeing tools, and cognitive assessments to help inform care planning and therapeutic intervention.

Team Consultation & Reflective Practice

Regular therapeutic consultation sessions provide opportunities for staff teams to reflect on young people’s progress, behaviours, relationships, and emotional needs. These sessions support collaborative problem-solving, therapeutic thinking, and consistent approaches to care.

Bespoke Therapeutic Interventions

Tailored therapeutic interventions can be provided based on the individual needs of the young person. This may include direct work with the child, support for key workers, group consultation sessions, attendance at professional meetings, and additional therapeutic guidance where required.

Training & Therapeutic Development

Our staff teams have access to specialist therapeutic training programmes which strengthen knowledge, reflective practice, emotional awareness, and trauma-informed care approaches across all of our homes.

Keyworker Intervention Toolkit (KIT)

Our homes benefit from access to the Keyworker Intervention Toolkit for Therapeutic Care (KIT), developed by bMindful Psychology. This structured programme supports therapeutic key working relationships and provides resources designed to strengthen emotional development, resilience, and positive engagement with young people.

Neurodiversity Support

We have access to specialist guidance and support around neurodiverse presentations, including autistic spectrum conditions and additional communication or sensory needs. This helps ensure care approaches remain individualised, inclusive, and responsive.

Specialist AIM3 Support

Where required, specialist AIM3 qualified assessment and intervention support is available for homes caring for young people who may present with harmful sexual behaviours. This ensures appropriate therapeutic intervention, safeguarding, and risk management strategies can be implemented alongside partner agencies.

A Consistent Therapeutic Environment

By embedding therapeutic support throughout all areas of our service, Capricorn Care aims to provide more than just accommodation — we provide stable, nurturing homes where young people can feel safe, develop positive relationships, build resilience, and work towards brighter futures.

Our partnership with bMindful Psychology strengthens our commitment to delivering high-quality, child-centred care that is reflective, compassionate, and focused on achieving meaningful outcomes for every young person we support
